STONINGTON — Stonington High will play Ellington for the Class M boys soccer championship on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Dillon Stadium in Hartford.

No. 2 Stonington (18-0-2) advanced with a 4-0 win against No. 19 Plainville in the semifinals on Tuesday. No. 1 Ellington (19-0) beat No. 12 Ledyard, 3-0, in the other semifinal Tuesday night.

Stonington last played for a state title in 1994 losing to Rocky Hill, 2-1, in the Class M title game. The Bears shared the 1993 title with RHAM after a 3-3 tie. Stonington won the Class M title in 1988 with a 2-1 win against Avon.

Ellington lost to Plainville in the Class M title game last season and was runner-up in 2016. They last won the title in 2014.
