NORTH STONINGTON — Ian Spracklin had three goals and one assist and the Wheeler High boys soccer team stayed unbeaten in ECC Division IV with a 6-0 rout of Putnam on Friday.

Spracklin scored the Lions' first goal 19 minutes into the contest on a nice buildup from the back, coach Joe Mendonca said. Matt Pierce and Grant Colsen were credited with assists.

At halftime, Wheeler led 2-0.

Pierce, Lukas Jones and Brady Sadowski each finished with one goal. Ethan Foberg added an assist, and goalie Bowen Baker was forced to make just one save in the shutout.

Wheeler outshot Putnam 13-4 and had three corner kicks to none for the Clippers.

"This is the first game we've played in a week and, overall, we did a very good job," Mendonca said. "We possessed the ball, played well and everyone got in and played."

The Lions (5-3-1, 4-0-1 Division IV) are 5-0-1 over their last six games. They next host Ledyard on Monday at 11 a.m.

Putnam fell to 0-8-2, 0-4-2.
