WESTERLY — Westerly High scored two goals in the second half and defeated Cranston West, 3-1, to earn its first Division II boys soccer win of the season Monday night at Augeri Field.

Luke Gencarella, Max Bertsch and Cameron Jakob each scored goals for Westerly.

Nico Serluca and Blake Busch added assists.

Westerly took the lead on Gencarella's goal with 17:26 left in the game. Bertsch headed in a long throw-in from Busch about 2 minutes later to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead.

"We created a lot of opportunities. We hit the post three times," Westerly coach Brian Williams said.

Westerly back Aaron Healy played well, Williams said. Goalie Jack Healy finished with seven saves.

Cranston West dropped to 0-3, 0-3 Division II.

Westerly (1-1-1, 1-1-1) next travels to Burrillville on Thursday for a 4 p.m. game.
