WESTERLY — East Greenwich scored the game's only goal in the first half and downed Westerly High, 1-0, in a Division II boys soccer match Monday.

The game was played on a windy night and the Bulldogs took the wind in the first half hoping for an early goal.

But Westerly had a communications breakdown in the back and the Avengers took advantage scoring with about three minutes left in the half.

East Greenwich (6-2-2, 6-2-2 Divison II) outshot Westerly, 7-3. Westerly goalie Jack Healy made six saves.

Westerly (6-6-1, 5-5-1) next hosts Wheeler School on Friday at 4 p.m.
