COLCHESTER, Conn. — Sam Montalto scored two goals, Tyler Fidrych had two assists and the Stonington High boys soccer team opened its season with a 3-0 win over Bacon Academy in an ECC out-of-division game Friday.

The Bears scored all three of their goals in the first half.

Ethan Allen-Fernandez added a goal and Billy deCastro had an assist, and goalie Peter Fernholz finished with three saves.

The Bears outshot the Bobcats 12-3.

Stonington next hosts Chariho on Saturday in the first round of the Piver Cup tournament. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
