PROVIDENCE — Westerly High's 4x800 relay team of Jake Serra, Brandon Tallardy, Nico Hence and Nick Cozzolino placed second at the freshman state meet Tuesday at the Providence Career & Technical Academy.

The quartet finished in a time of 9:53.33. North Kingstown won the race in 9:34.36.

Hence placed fourth in the 600 (1:37.83), and Serra was fifth in the 1,500 (4:36.04). The two teamed with Tallardy and Joe Gervisini to finish fifth in the 4x400 relay (4:06.49).

The Bulldogs finished with 16 points to place 11th among 21 teams. Bishop Hendricken won the team title with 67; North Kingstown was second (63).

Westerly next competes in the Elite Performance meet on Saturday at noon at PCTA.
