EAST GREENWICH — Westerly High senior Nick Turo placed 11th and the team finished second in the Injury Fund Carnival boys cross country race on Saturday at East Greenwich High.

Turo completed the 3.1-mile race in 17:21. Westerly finished with 74 points. Bishop Hendricken, which placed second in the New Englands last season, was first with 23. The Bulldogs competed in the Johnston race, one of four run on the day.

Sebastian Reisch placed 12th in 17:43. Other Westerly scorers were Tanner Kelly (15th, 17:57), Aaron Tallardy (21st, 18:34) and Nick Cozzolino (28th, 19:17).

Westerly opens the season on Sept. 10 hosting Narragansett and Prout at the Bradford Preserve at 4 p.m.
