NEW LONDON — Stonington High split an ECC nonleague boys cross country race Tuesday, defeating New London, 27-30, while losing to Plainfield, 15-46.

Nikhil Desai was Stonington's top runner, placing seventh on the 3.1-mile course in 19:38. Other scorers for the Bears were Chris O'Dell (ninth, 20:29), Ian Sanok (13th, 21:36), Matthew Goulart (17th, 23:14) and Dante DiMartino-Hart (18th, 23:47).

Stonington (5-4) next competes in the Wickham Invitational in Manchester, Conn., on Saturday at a time to be determined.
