BARRINGTON — Barrington outlasted Westerly High in double overtime, 74-72, and handed the Bulldogs their first Division II boys basketball loss of the season Tuesday night.
Westerly (8-2, 5-1) had shots at the end of the first overtime and the second overtime roll off the rim, coach Mike Gleason said.
"Barrington is really a top team in Division II," Gleason said. "We had the lead a little bit in overtime, but they made some free throws. It's hard to have a winner and a loser in a game like this."
Jawarie Hamelin, who fouled out in the second overtime, finished with 22 points, nine assists and six steals.
Chas Morgan, who fouled out in the first overtime, contributed 20 points. Byron Dunn, who fouled out with two minutes left in regulation, had six assists and three steals.
Patrick Murphy finished with 16 points and six rebounds.
Westerly was also without starter Nick Lauzon, who has missed the last four games due to an injury.
Will Rywold led Barrington (5-3, 4-1 Division II) with 27 points.
Westerly returns to the court on Thursday hosting another quality league opponent in Cranston West at 7 p.m. The Falcons, who did not play Tuesday, are 8-1, 5-0.
