THOMPSON, Conn. — Tourtellotte pulled away in the third quarter and downed Wheeler High, 58-36, in a Division IV boys basketball game Friday.

The Tigers (7-7, 3-2 Division IV) led 23-21 at halftime but proceeded to outscore the Lions 18-3 in the third period to take control.

"We missed a lot of layups inside," Wheeler coach Neal Cobleigh said. "We definitely weren't quite as good in our man-to-man defense. The man-to-man was very good in the first half. We just didn't execute well on defense in the second half.

"And we have to put the ball in the basket. It's that simple."

Bowen Baker scored 12 points for the Lions (3-11, 0-6). Michael Warren added nine points, including two 3-pointers, and Liam Patrick had six points on two 3s and six rebounds.

Wheeler next visits Grasso Tech on Monday for a 6:30 p.m. game.
