STONINGTON — Stonington High is the No. 8 seed in the Division IV boys basketball tournament and will host a first-round game on Monday.

The Bears will take on 25th seeded Northwestern (8-12) at 6 p.m.

Seedings are based on regular-season records. Stonington was 15-5 in the regular season and is now 17-6 after falling to St. Bernard in the ECC Division II title game Tuesday night at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Northwestern, which has lost its last five games, fell to Nonnewaug in the opening round of the Berkshire Conference tournament, 79-54.

The winner will play No. 9 Old Saybrook or No. 24 Academy of Aerospace and Engineering on Wednesday in the second round. The higher seed will host the game.

Stonington is on the same side of the bracket as No. 1 Cromwell (20-0), which plays in the Shoreline Conference tournament championship game on Friday.

The quarterfinals are Friday at the higher seed.
