GROTON — Zach Scott scored 24 points and hit three 3-pointers as Stonington High topped Fitch, 66-54, in an ECC out-of-division boys basketball game Friday.

Stonington (5-1) led 30-25 at the half.

"We played very well in spurts. We had them on the ropes two or three times and let them back in," Stonington coach John Luzzi said. "Fitch is a big school, and going there and getting a win is great.

"Defensively, we gave up 54 and they hurt us on the boards. Zach had a big game, and R.J. [Parrilla] — I can't say enough about how he played as a floor general and defender."

Parrilla finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Marquis Jackson added 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Fitch dropped to 3-2.

Stonington next hosts Montville on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
