STONINGTON — Zach Scott scored 22 points, 16 of them in the first quarter, and Stonington High zipped past Montville, 83-40, in an out-of-division ECC boys basketball game Tuesday night.

Scott also made all four of his 3-pointers in the first quarter. Stonington (6-1) led 25-8 at the end of the first quarter and 48-17 at the half.

"We came out and played the game we were supposed to play," Stonington coach John Luzzi said. "We closed out on them well and got off to a good start."

Jacob Geary contributed 12 points and eight rebounds, and guard Marquis Jackson led the team in rebounding with 14 and also scored eight points. Cole DeVoe added eight points.

Eleven Stonington players scored in the game.

Montville dropped to 2-4 with the loss.

Stonington next hosts Windham on Thursday at 7 p.m.
