PUTNAM, Conn. — Putnam got off to a fast start and raced past Wheeler High, 72-46, in an ECC Division IV boys basketball game Tuesday.

Sebastian Ramos led the Clippers (6-4, 3-0 Division IV) with 25 points.

"We could not guard him," Wheeler coach Neal Cobleigh said.

Putnam led 22-6 after one quarter and 49-21 at halftime.

Scott Pion led Wheeler (3-6, 0-4) with 15 points, including three 3-pointers, and five rebounds. Bowen Baker and Ian Spracklin each added nine points.

Wheeler next plays at Stonington on Thursday at 7 p.m.
