PUTNAM, Conn. — Putnam pulled away in the second half to post a 60-43 win over Wheeler High in an ECC Division IV boys basketball game Friday.

The Clippers (10-10, 4-4 Division IV) led 27-22 at halftime.

"It was a real good game until midway through the third quarter," Lions coach Neal Cobleigh said. "Then it was the same old bugaboo: We had trouble against the 2-3 zone.

"The kids played hard. We just didn't have enough."

Ian Spracklin was the only scorer for Wheeler (5-14, 0-8) in double figures with 21 points, including two 3-pointers. Bowen Baker had seven points and three assists.

The Lions next play at Parish Hill on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
