TIVERTON — Bereket Janat filled up the stat sheet and Westerly High's defense stifled Tiverton in a 60-35 Division II boys basketball victory Friday.
The Bulldogs (17-4, 14-3 Division II) took command early and led 37-14 at the half en route to their 11th straight win.
"Tremendous team defense," coach Mike Gleason said. "This is the third game in a row the defense has risen to the challenge."
Gleason said Nick Lauzon and Chas Morgan combined to hold Tiverton 6-3 wing player Carson Hart, a 20-points-per-game scorer, to just four.
"We did a great job on him and didn't give him any open looks," Gleason said.
Patrick Murphy scored 11 points for Westerly. Connor Warner scored nine, and Cole Riley had seven points and eight rebounds.
Janat, a 6-2 senior forward, finished with 11 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and six steals.
"Just a tremendous all-around game from Bereket," Gleason said.
Tiverton dropped to 9-8, 8-8.
Westerly next hosts North Providence on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
