WESTERLY — Barrington scored 39 points in the second half and pulled away from Westerly High to earn a Division II boys basketball victory, 64-54, Wednesday night at Federico Gym.

Westerly had a two-point lead at the half, 27-25.

"They have a lot of really good 3-pointer shooters, which is a challenge to guard," Westerly coach Mike Gleason said. "We played hard, but we had too many turnovers and too many missed layups.

"They are too good of an offensive team to miss as many shots as we did. We got behind and they spread us out."

Patrick Murphy led the Bulldogs with 12 points and Jawarie Hamelin contributed 11. Bereket Janat finished with 13 rebounds. Cole Riley and Hamelin had eight each.

Brendan Conaty scored 21 for Barrington, 16 in the second half. Conaty finished with three of his team's seven 3-pointers.

Barrington is 7-2 overall and 5-0 in Division II. Westerly (6-4, 3-3 Division II) has lost three straight. The Bulldogs next travel to Cranston West on Friday for a 7 p.m. game.
