STONINGTON — Marquis Jackson scored 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as Stonington High defeated Tourtellotte, 74-21, in an ECC out-of-division boys basketball game Saturday night.

The Bears led the Tigers 22-4 at the end of the first quarter and 42-16 at the half in the season opener for both teams.

Zach Scott finished with 13 points, and R.J. Parrilla added 10 as 10 Stonington players scored in the game. Parrilla led the team in assists with five, and Marco Tedeschi had a good night on the boards with 10 rebounds. Jacob Geary blocked three shots.

"The guys were anxious and excited to play their first game," Bears coach John Luzzi said. "The goal was to come out and get the ball out in transition. We were able to get out to a big lead."

Stonington next hosts Griswold in an ECC Division III game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
