RUMFORD — The Shoreline Surfers, a Westerly based 10u AAU baseball team, earned their first victory against the Jaguars, 6-4, in game two of a double header on Sunday.

The Surfers dropped the first game 10-1.

In game two, Matteo Hackett earned the victory for the Surfers in relief, pitching four innings, allowing two hits, and striking out four.

Hackett finished the game with a three-pitch sixth inning to secure the win.

Ben Eaton tied the game at four in the fourth inning with a two-run double scoring Grady Auth and Connor Plante.

Liam Jacobson singled home Eaton and Sean O’Leary later in the inning to put the Surfers ahead 6-4.

That was all the Surfers needed, as Hackett held the Jaguars scoreless in his four innings of relief. Grady Auth and Stephen Maynard each had two hits for the Surfers.
