NORWICH — St. Bernard defeated Wheeler High, 10-3, in an ECC out-of-division baseball game Saturday at Dodd Stadium.

Wheeler (4-12) scored three runs in the top of the third to tie the game, but St. Bernard (7-10) answered with three in the bottom half to take the lead for good.

Wheeler's Matt Pierce was 2 for 3. Connor Melinosky drove in a run.

Starter Justin Veal took the loss despite allowing just one hit in three innings. Four of the six runs scored off him were unearned.

Wheeler next travels to Hale-Ray on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
