NORTH STONINGTON — Wheeler High fell behind by eight runs and lost to Tourtellotte, 12-5, in an ECC Division IV baseball game Saturday.

The Tigers (8-7, 4-2 ECC Division IV) scored eight times over the first three innings to lead 8-0.

Wheeler's Bowen Baker (2 for 4) hit a grand slam in the fourth to make it 8-4. But Tourtellotte added two more runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

Connor Melinosky was 2 for 4 with a double for the Lions.

Starter Lukas Jones gave up two runs over three innings to take the loss.

Wheeler (4-9, 4-2) next travels to Hale-Ray on Monday at 4 p.m. for a nonleague game.
