STONINGTON — Griswold scored eight runs in the top of the third inning and downed Wheeler High, 17-4, to wrap up the ECC Division IV baseball title Thursday at the Pawcatuck Little League complex.

Wheeler (4-11, 4-3 ECC Division II) still had a chance at the title coming into the game. Griswold improved to 14-6, 7-1. Its only loss was to Wheeler.

The Wolverines led 11-0 after three innings and the game was called after five by the mercy rule.

Bower Baker doubled and drove in two runs for the Lions. Aidan Cameron singled twice.

Starter Lukas Jones struck out three and took the loss.

Wheeler next faces St. Bernard at Dodd Stadium in Norwich on Saturday at 11 a.m.
