NORTH SMITHFIELD — Mike Fiore drove in four runs and the Westerly High baseball team won its fifth straight game, defeating winless North Smithfield, 14-2, in a Division II contest Monday.

Fiore (2 for 4) hit a three-run double with two outs in the fourth inning.Westerly (7-2, 7-2 Division II) scored six runs in the first inning. Matt Brissette (3 for 4) drove in a pair with a single in the inning.

Zack Beckler hit a two-run single in the fifth. Tom Algier finished 2 for 5 with a double and drove in a run. Algier is hitting .455.

The game ended in the sixth inning via the mercy rule.

Phil Pedersen (4-1) pitched the first five innings, earning the win. He struck out five and did not walk a batter.

North Smithfield dropped to 0-10, 0-10.

Westerly next travels to Mount Pleasant on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game.
