PROVIDENCE — Matt Brissette pitched a two-hitter and struck out six as the Westerly High baseball team shut out Classical, 10-0, in a Division II baseball game on Thursday.

The game was ended after five innings by the mercy rule. Brissette moved to 2-1 with a 1.12 ERA.

Tom Algier and Zach Beckler each hit two-run doubles for the Bulldogs (4-2, 4-2 Division II). Algier's was in the third inning and Beckler's was in the fifth. Phil Pedersen then brought home Beckler with a double. Algier also stole two bases.

Beckler and James Adams drove in two runs each, and Ben Gorman drove in a run with a double in the first inning. Spencer Bernat finished 2 for 4.

Classical is 1-5, 1-5 Division II.

Westerly next hosts North Smithfield on Saturday at 11 a.m.
