COVENTRY — Chariho High freshmen Luke Mead and Gary Gardiner finished first at the JV/freshman state wrestling tournament Saturday.

Mead finished 3-0 at 170 pounds, winning the title bout with a pin in 5:04. The 195 bracket only had two wrestlers and Gardiner pinned his opponent in 3:36 in his only bout.

Wade Husing (106 pounds) and Luca Fabbricatore (160) each finished third. Husing was 3-1, while Fabbricatore was 1-1. The 160 class had five wrestlers.

Lance Delbonis placed third in the junior varsity 170-pound class with a 5-1 record. He won the bout for third place with a pin. Colin Richmond (220) and Clark Richmond (195) also finished third in the JV tournament.

Michael Eilert (220) was fourth in the freshman tourney. Chariho was fifth in the freshman tourney as a team.

Chariho finished sixth with 105 points. Bishop Hendricken was first with 227.5.
