WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Six Chariho High wrestlers finished first in their weight classes as the Chargers topped the field in the Mountie Invite at Mount Greylock High on Saturday.
Chariho compiled 240.5 points, while Taconic was second with 196.5 among the 13 teams. Chariho also won the tournament last years.
Kyle Merritt (138), Ben Dougherty (170), Nate Marchione (195) and Clark Richmond (220) each finished 3-0 winning all of their bouts with pins.
"Devin Shaw could not wrestle today at 220 for personal reasons. Clark Richmond was a pleasant surprise making it to the finals and winning the tournament," Chariho coach Scott Merritt said.
Ben Dougherty is 30-4 and Merritt moved to 28-4. Marchione is 27-3.
Mike Phelps was 4-0 at 285 pounds and won by decision against teammate Levi Barrington, 6-2, in the title bout.
Wade Husing took first at 106 pounds with a pair of pins. It was the first tournament title for the freshman.
Zach Jesuino (126), Jackson Bridge (145), Dominic Bonanno (152), James Dougherty (160) and Cam Anderson (182) finished second in their weight classes.
Chariho won the South County and Chad Antoch Memorial tournaments earlier this season.
Chariho hosts Ponaganset and La Salle Academy on Wednesday starting at 5 p.m.
