WESTERLY — Westerly High and South Kingstown advanced to the girls junior varsity championship game with victories on Thursday in the WCCU Holiday Basketball Tournament at Westerly High’s Federico Gym.

The title game will be played on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. at Federico.

South Kingstown defeated Stonington, 49-31, in the first game of the day.

Westerly beat Chariho, 39-35, in the second game.

Jane Carr led South Kingstown with 12 points, and Morgan Gutelius contributed nine. Avery Martin scored seven.

Sophia Fernholz was Stonington’s top scorer with 12 points. Phoebe Werling and Maggie Daley each added five.

Post player Meg Beal scored 11 points as the Bulldogs got past the Chargers to reach the finals.

Anna Cozzolino finished with eight points, and Rachel Dobson contributed six.

Britney LaBelle led Chariho with nine points. Lucie Willett finished with eight and Shelby Rood contributed seven.

Stonington and Chariho will play in the consolation game at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday.
