COVENTRY — Chloe Joslin drove in both Chariho High runs as the Chargers defeated Coventry, 2-0, in a Division I softball game Wednesday.

Both RBIs came with two outs. In the first inning, Caitlin O'Leary walked and went to second on a Haylie Wellman sacrifice. With two outs, Joslin singled home O'Leary.

In the sixth, O'Leary singled and went to second on another Wellman sacrifice. Once again, Joslin singled her home with two outs. Joslin finished 2 for 3.

Chariho, which has won 11 straight, had just four hits.

Kate Powers limited Coventry to two hits while striking out nine.

In the sixth, Coventry opened the inning with a single. The baserunner stole second and went to third on an overthrow. Powers then struck out the next three batters to end the threat.

"She got stronger as the game went on," Chariho coach Dave Petrocelli said. "She had four of her nine strikeouts in the last two innings."

Powers has 84 strikeouts in 59 innings with a 1.42 ERA this season.

Coventry is 8-4, 8-4 Division I. Chariho (11-1, 10-1) next hosts Prout on Friday at 4:15 p.m.
