WOONSOCKET — Chariho High's Mollie Dyer scored a school-record nine goals carrying the Chargers past winless Mount St. Charles, 16-10, in a Division II girls lacrosse game Monday.
Five others shared the previous record for goals in a game with seven. Sami Orciari was the most recent to accomplish the feat in 2015. She did it twice that season.
Dyer also had three assists.
"Mollie really stepped it up today," Chariho coach Brittney Godbout said. "Mount Saint Charles had less pressure with their defense and she had more space to play around with. A lot of the girls were giving her good passes in transition."
Dyer leads the team with 32 goals and 11 assists this season. Jenna Brierly, who also had seven goals in a game in 2014, holds the single-season record with 68.
Maura Beaudreau finished with three goals and an assist. Emily St. Lawrence, Gina Foley, Layne Hart and Lindsay Shields each scored a goal.
Chariho (4-4, 4-4 Division II) finished with 31 shots and goalie Megan Bradley had 14 saves.
Mount St. Charles dropped to 0-10, 0-10.
Chariho next hosts Johnston on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
