MANCHESTER, Conn. — Chariho High's Julia Fortune finished 101st at the New England girls cross country championships Saturday at Wickham Park.

Fortune, a sophomore, covered the 3.1-mile course in 20:26. Teammate Abby Cole was 114th (20:34) and Anna LaCroix finished 153rd (20:59).

The race had 263 finishers.

Sofia Matson of Falmouth, Maine, was first 17:52 and Marie Noble of Greenwich, Conn., was second in 17:57.

The top Rhode Island finisher was Barrington's Caroline Livingston, who placed 13th in 18:54.

Champlain Valley of Vermont won the team title with 142 points. Hall High of of West Hartford was second with 173. East Greenwich was the top Rhode Island school with 237 points.
