WOOD RIVER JCT. — Spencer Shiels scored 24 points and Kate Powers added 19 as Chariho High topped Prout, 67-39, in a Division II girls basketball game Monday night.

Chariho only led by eight points at the half, 29-21. But the Chargers outscored the Crusaders, 38-18, in the second half.

"In the first half, our defense was not totally what we wanted," Chariho coach Tom Gilligan said. "We switched to man-to-man in the second half and we started moving our feet better."

Powers also contributed 15 rebounds and Shiels came up with six steals.

Caitlin O'Leary scored nine for the Chargers.

Elizabeth Duffy led Prout (5-12, 5-8) with 22.

Chariho (9-8, 9-5) next travels to Tiverton on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
