TIVERTON — Despite 28 points and 25 rebounds from Kate Powers, Chariho High lost to Tiverton, 55-52, in a Division II girls basketball game Wednesday night.

It was only the third win of the season for the Tigers (3-13, 3-12.)

"We missed 11 close shots, went 5 of 14 at the free-throw line and had 23 turnovers," Chariho coach Tom Gilligan said. "When you combine all of those things, it's tough to win.

"But hats off to Tiverton. They played hard and hustled better after loose balls."

Powers was the only Chariho player to score in double figures. Spencer Shiels had nine points. Chariho played without starter Annaliese Kenney and reserve Shelby Roode due to illness.

Mariah Ramos led Tiverton with 19 points.

Chariho returns home Friday to host West Warwick at 7 p.m.
