WOOD RIVER JCT. — Caitlin O'Leary hit five 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 17 points to help Chariho High beat Mount St. Charles, 69-58, in a Division II girls basketball game Tuesday.

Kate Powers added 17 points and eight rebounds, and Shelby Roode had 12 points and 10 boards for the Chargers (4-7, 4-4 Division II), who ended a two-game slide.

"We showed more consistency on offense," coach Tom Gilligan said, "and we took better care of the basketball. We still missed some layups, but two people really stepped up: Caitlin O'Leary really played well and Shelby Roode had a double-double.

"It was really a collective effort, and I was glad to see that. Been waiting for that."

Katie Lynch paced the Mounties (6-6, 3-5) with 21 points.

Spencer Shiels contributed six points, five rebounds and four steals for the Chargers, who next play at Narragansett on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
