WEST GREENWICH — Four Chariho High players scored in double figures and the Chargers picked up their third straight win, defeating Exeter-West Greenwich, 65-42, in a Division II girls basketball game Thursday night.

Chariho had started the season 0-5, but now stands 3-5, 3-2 Division II.

"We are not firing on all cylinders yet, but we are inching to what we should be," Chariho coach Tom Gilligan said. "We missed a boatload of layups. And we need to be more competitive when people are in our face."

Kate Powers, who missed the first few games of the season with an injury, led the Chargers with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Caitlin O'Leary and Spencer Shiels finished with 12 points each. O'Leary made a pair of 3-pointers, and Shiels had five steals. Annaliese Kenney also hit a pair of 3s and scored 10.

Chariho led 23-18 at the half and outscored the Scarlet Knights 42-24 in the second half.

EWG dropped to 2-5, 1-3 Division II.

Chariho next hosts Juanita Sanchez on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
