PROVIDENCE — Chariho High experienced an off shooting night and lost to Classical, 67-39, in a Division II girls basketball game Monday night.

Chariho shot 27 percent from the field and 36 from the free-throw line in the setback.

Chariho trailed by 13 at the half, 25-12. Chariho did cut the lead to 10 points in the second half, but could get no closer.

Layne Hart led the Chargers in scoring with 11 points. Shelby Roode contributed seven.

Nina Karlin had a big night for Classical (1-0, 1-0 Division II) with 25, 19 in the second half.

Chariho (0-2, 0-1 Division II) hosts Coventry on Thursday at 7 p.m.
