WOOD RIVER JCT. — Delia Champagne scored Chariho High's first goal of the season, but the Chargers fell to Cumberland, 2-1, in a Division II field hockey game Friday.

Keely McCue assisted on Champagne's second-half goal.

Cumberland (2-2-1, 2-2-1 Division II) finished with an 11-7 shots advantage. Both teams had seven shots each. Chariho goalie Hannah Smith made nine saves.

The Chargers (0-4, 0-4) next play at Burrillville on Monday at 4 p.m.
