WOOD RIVER JCT. — Riley Culotta pitched six strong innings and Josh Smithey had two hits as Chariho defeated Slocum Baseball, 5-4, in a Connie Mack game Wednesday.

Chariho led 4-2 through four innings.

John Pellegrino pitched the seventh to pick up the save for Chariho (3-1). Catcher Liam Flynn threw out two runners attempting to steal a base.

Chariho next faces unbeaten Stonington on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Cimalore Field in Westerly. Stonington (5-0) has allowed one run in 5 games.
