CRANSTON — Chariho High fell to Cranston East, 3-1, in the quarterfinals of the Division I boys volleyball tournament on Tuesday night.

The set scores were 26-24, 25-27, 25-17 and 25-23.

Chariho was seeded fifth for the tourney and East was slotted at No. 4, and the set scores reflect how closely matched these teams were.

"We were going point for point with them in the first two sets," Chargers coach Michelle Cunningham-Joost said. "But we made one too many errors and they capitalized."

Lawson Laurent led Chariho with 11 kills and 18 blocks, Nathaniel Felicetti had 19 kills, and Shea Jackson finished with 28 digs.

"We played great," said Cunningham-Joost, who wrapped up her first year as coach. "They played better."

The Chargers finished with an 11-8 record, picking up two more wins than last season.

The Thunderbolts improved to 14-6 and next play top-seeded Coventry in the semifinals on Friday at East Greenwich High. Coventry received a bye in the quarterfinals.
