PROVIDENCE — James Penhallow finished first in one event and second in another as Chariho High split its Southern Division boys indoor track opener on Monday.

Penhallow was first in the 1,000 (2:51.42) and second in the 1,500 (4:22.44).

Tim Champlin won the 1,500 (4:15.45).

Chariho defeated Westerly, 62.5-40.5, but lost to Rogers, 84-25.

Josh Benros finished third in the 300 (41.47) and the high jump (5-4). Joe Golas was third in the 3,000 (9:54.76).

Chariho's 4x400 relay team of Matt Dickerman, Mike Sheehan, Golas and Champlin finished second (3:47.39).

Chariho competes again on Monday in a league meet at the PCTA at 7:30 p.m.
