PROVIDENCE — Chariho High's 4x800 relay team finished first at the boys junior varsity state indoor track championships Wednesday at the Providence Career & Technical Academy.

C.J. Elwell, Finn Weeden, Dan Nimirorski and Sam Steere combined for a time of 8:58.33, winning the race by .09 seconds ahead of Bishop Hendricken.

Josh Benros finished second in the high jump, clearing 5-6, and Joe Golas placed third in the 1,000 (2:46.12).

Chariho finished seventh among the 26 teams with 24 points. Hendricken was first with 69.

Chariho's varsity will compete in the state meet on Saturday at 11 a.m. at PCTA.
