MANCHESTER, Conn. — Chariho High placed 26th at the New England boys cross country championships Saturday at Wickham Park.

Joe Golas was the first Chariho runner across the line on the 3.1-mile course, placing 128th in 17:18. Other scorers for the Chargers were Dan Nimiroski (152nd, 17:30), C.J. Elwell (180th, 17:43), Connor Montague (187th, 17:47) and Sam Steere (201st, 17:55).

Chariho finished with 590 points.

Gavin Sherry of Conard High in West Hartford won the race in 15:30. La Salle Academy's Jack McLoughlin was the top Rhode Island finisher, placing third (15:35).

La Salle won the team title with 89 points. Bishop Hendricken was second with 138 and Tolland, Conn., was third (139).
