WOOD RIVER JCT. — Chariho High fell to West Warwick, 58-56, in a Division II boys basketball game Friday night.

The Chargers trailed 58-55 with one second left when West Warwick was called for a holding foul, Chariho coach Corey Downey said. Luke Fusaro made the first free throw and missed the second one intentionally, but the Chargers were unable to score the game-tying basket.

Ben Harrison led Chariho (4-7, 3-4 Division II) with 14 points, six rebounds and three assists.

At halftime, the Chargers held a 30-24 lead.

"We shared the ball well in the first half," Downey said. "In the second half we tried to do too much one-on-one stuff."

Chariho led by as many as eight points early in the second half, Downey said, and the game was back and forth for the final eight minutes.

Fusaro and Dylan LaBelle each finished with 13 points. Fusaro also had five rebounds, and Lucas Santos chipped in five points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Ja'khai Rose scored 23 points for the Wizards (8-2, 4-2).

Chariho next plays at Tolman on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
