WOOD RIVER JCT. — Ben Harrison had 16 points, 13 rebounds and hit a key 3-pointer to help Chariho High defeat Juanita Sanchez, 64-60, in a Division II boys basketball game Thursday.
The Chargers (12-8, 11-5 Division II) have won six straight.
With the game tied at 57 and about one minute remaining, Luke Fusaro attacked the basket, made the field goal and was fouled. He converted the free throw to put Chariho up 60-57.
Fabricio Mitigo made a free throw for Juanita Sanchez to cut Chariho's lead to 60-58 with 40 seconds left. But Harrison responded with his 3 to make it 63-58 with 20 seconds to go and the Chargers held on from there.
"We played really hard," Chariho coach Corey Downey said. "We weren't as good as we'd like to be offensively. ... But it was Senior Night. Sometimes you have to battle your emotions when it's a special moment like tonight."
Dylan LaBelle scored a game-high 20 points for the Chargers. Levi King added 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Mitigo led Juanita Sanchez (11-8, 9-7) with 16 points.
Chariho next visits Narragansett on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
