NARRAGANSETT — Chariho High rallied from 10 points down to force overtime, but fell to Narragansett, 65-62, in a Division II boys basketball game Saturday night.
Narragansett (16-4 overall) is the top team in D-II with a 16-2 mark.
"I'm really happy, really proud," said Chariho coach Corey Downey, noting that his team trailed by 10 with five minutes to go. "We were physical, tough, really took it to the basket. We were just unfortunate a couple times, but I loved our resolve to be down 10 against the No. 1 seed in Division II and come back and have a chance to win.
"We can win some games [in the Division II tournament] if we play like this."
Dylan LaBelle scored, was fouled and completed the three-point play to tie the game at 56 with 45 seconds left.
Chariho (12-9, 11-6) had the last possession of regulation but was unable to capitalize.
Lucas Santos hit a 3 with one second left in overtime to account for the Chargers' final points.
Levi King finsihed with 16 points and seven rebounds, Luke Fusaro had 15 points and six assists, and Ben Harrison had 15 points and five rebounds for Chariho.
Michael Levesque led the Mariners with 20 points.
Chariho next plays at Barrington on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
