WOOD RIVER JCT. — Dylan LaBelle scored 18 points and Levi King added 12 as Chariho High earned its first boys basketball win of the season, 64-55, against Toll Gate in a nonleague game Tuesday night.

LaBelle had a pair of 3-pointers. King, who also hit a 3-pointer, led the team in rebounds with 10.

Luke Fusaro finished with 10 points including a pair of 3-pointers.

"We did a better job on the defensive boards," Chariho coach Corey Downey said. "We were aggressive. We also did a better job getting loose balls than we did the other night [a loss to Ponaganset].

"We played harder and tougher and executed better offensively."

Chariho led 34-25 at the half.

Ben Harrison and Ryan Allen contributed six rebounds each. Division III Toll Gate, which beat Westerly in its opener, dropped to 1-1.

Division II Chariho (1-1) hosts Cranston West in the league opener on Friday at 7 p.m.
