WOOD RIVER JCT. — Chariho High pushed across just one run and fell to Smithfield, 3-1, in a Division I baseball game Tuesday.

Smithfield's Jake McDonough struck out seven to earn the victory.

Chariho (1-3, 0-3 Division I) scored its only run in the third inning on a double by Josh Smithey that drove in Kyle Abbott. John Pellegrino finished with two hits, including a double. Abbott and Zach Snow also doubled.

Sean Sposato pitched all seven innings and took the loss. He allowed two earned runs and struck out eight.

Smithfield moved to 2-1, 2-1.

Chariho next travels to Smithfield on Thursday at 4 p.m.
