Addie Hauptmann excelled in her first season as goalkeeper for the Wheeler High girls soccer team in 2018.
Then a freshman, she made 20 or more saves in a game three times, and was ultimately named an ECC Division IV first-team All-Star despite the Lions finishing 0-13-3.
This year, the sophomore will look to help Wheeler get in the win column as the Lions begin their first season under a new coach, Kellie Palmer, a former standout striker at Stonington High.
Hauptmann also is a key member of the Wheeler basketball and softball teams.
Hauptmann received 505 votes. There were a total of 1,141 votes cast in last week’s balloting.
