Athlete of the Week

Athlete of the Week: October 17

Sponsored by Antonino Auto Group: This school year The Westerly Sun will be selecting a high school Athlete of the Week. Voting closes on Monday and the selection will be announced on Thursday. The nominees for the week ending October 12th are:

Zoot Boschwitz, Chariho football, sophomore: Boschwitz completed 7 of 15 passes for 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 24-0 Division III win against Smithfield. Boschwitz, a quarterback, threw touchdowns passes of 29 and 11 yards. Boschwitz is in his first season as a starter.

Sam Montalto, Stonington soccer, sophomore, Montalto had a pair of hat tricks in two Stonington wins during the week. Montalto had three goals in a win against NFA and three more in a victory against Fitch. Montalto has scored 17 goals in 11 games this season.

Rocco Cillino, Westerly football, senior: rushed for 98 yards and scored three touchdowns, all in the first half, in a 35-0 win against Mt. Hope. Cillino has rushed for 698 yards and is averaging 6.6 yards per carry. He has scored 11 touchdown this season and intercepted three passes.

Ian Spracklin, Wheeler soccer, senior: Spracklin scored three goals and had an assist in a win against Putnam. Spracklin has 12 goals and six assists for the season. Wheeler has won four of its last five games and is unbeaten in ECC Division IV.
