I would like the residents of Westerly to know the spirit of Christmas is alive in our wonderful town.
On Dec. 18, I went to Aldi's after work to pick up a few things. Of course, the few things turned out to be many things. As I was placing my order on the checkout belt, I noticed a young man behind me with only one item. After assuring him I didn't mind, I had him go before me to check out this item.
When I went to pay for my order, I was told by the cashier that the person before me had bought a $10 gift certificate to be used by me toward my order. I was completely taken by surprise and amazed by this young man's generosity.
So to this young man, thank you. And to Westerly, be kind to one another not only in this holiday season but the entire year.
Yes, the spirit of Christmas is alive in our town.
