Patricia Morgan, former Rhode Island House Minority Leader, wants to head the Trump campaign in Rhode Island. I take strong exception to that.

And I have made my feelings known. She has the dubious distinction of being ousted as the Republican leader, as she did not respect the results of the gubernatorial primary in 2018. Mrs. Morgan was the losing candidate in that primary for governor, but supported a Republican who bypassed the primary, and ran as an independent for governor.

Rhode Island Republicans are a small group, and such divisive conduct as Mrs. Morgan is not helpful to the party. I remember too well Mrs. Morgan and her handling of the 2004 Republican National Convention delegate selection process when she was state party chair. I have been to six Republican National Conventions, so I have a personal understanding of them.

President Donald Trump deserves someone better than Patricia Morgan as state chair of his campaign in Rhode Island. I hope other committed Republicans who share my concerns about Mrs. Morgan by contacting President Trump at the White House website at and the Trump campaign at I have done both.

To my fellow Republicans in Rhode Island, I say will you remain silent? I hope not!
